FOCUS/REVIEW qUESTION: Imagine you are the opposing side to your issue. What would you say to oppose your proposal? How will you effectively shoot down this criticism?

LEARNING TARGETS:

  • Understand major public policy issue from both sides of the issue and effectively argue for a government led solution to this issue.
  • Finish your slideshow for your presentation and begin practicing what you will say so your presentation goes smoothly.

ASSIGNMENTS:

  • Practice your Public Policy Presentation and be ready to give a professional persuasive presentation on your issue this week!
  • REMEMBER!!!! Your Slideshow should be polished & of the highest quality. Your presentation should be practiced & enthusiastically delivered. Take the time to practice so you know what you want to say and deliver it smoothly & persuasively.

  • Each group must write a Proposal for a Bill (Law) on your Public Policy Topic that you would like to see passed. Make a copy of this document, type in your info and print out. - Due MONDAY.

FOCUS/REVIEW qUESTION: As you listen to these presentations, consider your own position on these issues and which political party most closesly represents your viewpoint.

LEARNING TARGETS:

  • Understand an important public policy issue facing our nation.
  • Successfully argue for a position on a public policy issue using researched facts to back up your position.
  • Present a public policy proposal in an effective and professional manner.

AGENDA:

  • PUBLIC POLICY PRESENTATIONS!
  • As groups present, consider which groups do the best job at the following (we will vote later):
    • Best Introduction - Clearly introduced their topic in an interesting/entertaining way.
    • Best Argued Solution - The solution that made the most sense and was backed up clearly with evidence supporting it.
    • Best Conclusion - The conclusion that did the best job to motivate you to act or moved you emotionally.
    • Best Overall Presentation - The presentation that was most professionally & clearly presented in all areas.
